April 5, 2012 - PRLog -- When you drive through cities that have been economically shut down because “the factory” has closed and moved to a new world zone, it’s hard to see any benefit to outsourcing. However, there is a whole different side to this story. New opportunities are abundant for businesses that embrace the benefit of tapping into the talents of outsourced workers. And, you’ll be amazed to discover the faces behind these companies.

Who are these “opportunists”?

Well, these aren’t bottom feeders in 3-piece suits preying on the misfortunes of others. These are average American families: mom’s that have chosen to stay at home rather than work outside of the home; dad’s that have made the decision to figure out a way to have a more flexible work schedule so they can embrace a quality of life with their family; retirees (young and old) that have decided to take matters into their own hands rather than rely solely on social security and pensions; hourly workers that are developing a side business to supplement their income; laid off workers that refuse to be discouraged because they know they have knowledge and skills that will benefit others worldwide; entrepreneurs of all ages, genders, experiences, and economic backgrounds who understand that a global economy means they really can chase their dreams – and catch them!

Once upon a time, not too long ago, most people in America worked for themselves. In fact, it’s that innovative spirit and sense of independence that made this country what it is today. Even though the industrial revolution brought in different opportunities, and shifted the way many people lived and worked, that ingrained spirit which is the American Dream is still alive and kicking.

Once thriving towns, born of the silver and gold rushes are now ghost towns. But out of that gold dust rose more opportunities and better living conditions. It’s possible that future historians will look back upon today with similar conclusions. Opportunity rises from the rubble.

Outsourcing: Opening up the Avenue of Knowledge

Could it be that outsourcing provides the means for another shift in the way we live? We are in the age of information, a sort of digital revolution. No longer are borders holding in the collective knowledge and talents of its citizens. Many people are more inclined to work together to solve problems, share knowledge, and give others the tools for a more comfortable life. And the internet allows for this to happen.

Entrepreneurs see this. They recognize that they really can take a lifetime of knowledge and skill and package it up and deliver it to millions of people around the globe. A mom in Kentucky can teach a mom in India about a trick she learned to calm a colicky baby; a mechanic from Detroit can teach someone from Australia how to fix a car.

So how does Outsourcing fit in with this sharing of knowledge?

One example is that Virtual Assistants, or VA’s, can be hired to help with a small businesses marketing tasks. The internet is a powerful vehicle with a low-cost point of entry. However, there are millions of webpages out there. And, in order for a business to get noticed so they can share their knowledge, products, and talents, there are dozens of daily tasks, or action steps, that must be done consistently for a company to make their mark. An outsourced VA can help with that. And, they can do it at a cost that fits within that stay-at-home mom or entrepreneur’s budget.

Outsourcing allows the “little guy” to duplicate their time and effort so they can compete with the “big guys.” And, it can be argued, that outsourcing gives people options.

Think about this. If you were an employee who grew an internet-based business in your spare time with the help of outsourcing, could that extra income allow you to feel more secure in your financial life knowing that another source of income was coming into your household? That’s very empowering.

When a person feels secure in their financial life, they become more confident. Everyone benefits when that happens. Why do you think the news and politicians focus on the statistics for consumer confidence? When people feel confident they spend money; when companies feel confident they expand and create jobs – here and abroad.

The Secondary Level of Outsourcing Benefits

Another less talked about benefit of outsourcing is for American’s living abroad. Who are these people? Military families, retirees, and anybody else that chooses to live in another country. Their talents and knowledge do not have to leave the country just because they pack up their bags and go.

As one student of the 6 Figure Outsourcing Secrets Bootcamp training commented, having the ability to freelance their writing skills while living in another country such as Indonesia or Vietnam would be an excellent source of income – even better than teaching English at the local schools in those areas. So an American citizen could retire to a part of the world that has a lower cost of living and continue to share their knowledge and earn a nice income. Spouses who follow their husbands and wives to bases in other countries have an opportunity to build a nice business and income as well.

Where to Discover more About Outsourcing

There are several great sources online to find outsourcers to help with your business. Odesk.com, Guru.com and Elance.com are just a few. Even a search of the Craigslist ads can result in finding talented people eager to help you with your business.

Finding the workers is pretty easy, but understanding all the ins and outs of outsourcing can be intimidating to someone just dipping their toes into the concept. A great introduction to the benefits of outsourcing and how to build your business to its fullest potential can be found through this online presentation:
