#GrowTheGame Events To Have Major Impact On Grassroots Soccer In San Diego

With #GrowTheGame fast approaching (April 14 & 15) - fans & those involved with soccer are encouraged to celebrate at major events being held across the San Diego. Photo opportunities available at all major events over the weekend.

April 4, 2012 - PRLog -- With the #GrowTheGame weekend of April 14 & 15 fast approaching -  soccer fans, coaches, administrators, soccer moms and those keen to  learn more about the beautiful game are encouraged to get out in their communities and celebrate the sport at major events being held across the city.

A coordinated weekend of activities by the soccer community will help the sport grow in a number of ways including exposure to new players and sponsors, networking with other clubs to share best practice and providing platforms for junior clubs to link with the highest levels of the game in San Diego, inspiring the future generation of players in the process.

The major events for #GrowTheGame San Diego include;

The ‘Future of San Diego Soccer Forum’ – all clubs, fans & coaches come together under one roof to discuss the state of soccer and the ways to grow the sport in San Diego. Supported by the San Diego Sports Commission the event will see a town hall style meeting with a Q&A with guest panelists.

When:    Sunday April 15 from 3-5pm
Where:    San Diego Hall of Champions, 2131 Pan American Plaza, Balboa Park

San Diego Flash vs San Diego Boca – Come join in the #GrowTheGame celebrations by watching our two local pro teams battle it out for local bragging rights. A must see NPSL blockbuster! A march past by San Diego’s junior clubs will occur before the game to celebrate US Soccer’s largest youth market.

When:    Saturday April 14 – 5pm Kick-Off
Where:        Del Norte High School, 16601 Nighthawk Lane, San Diego, CA 92127

Inaugural Meeting of Street Soccer USA San Diego Advisory Board – Ending homelessness is a team sport and that’s why soccer has always been regarded as one of the best vehicles for social change. The #GrowTheGame legacy project will see the highly successful Street Soccer USA program introduced to San Diego.

When:    Sunday April 15 from 2-3pm
Where:       The Boardroom, San Diego Hall of Champions, 2131 Pan American Plaza, Balboa Park.

Soccer Star – San Diego Try Outs. Soccer Star – San Diego is a new online TV show with the eventual winner securing a training agreement with the San Diego Flash Pro Soccer Club. The journey for that player starts at these try outs with the final 16 to move on to the main 9 webisode show which includes a series of matches, challenges and educational programs.

When:    Saturday April 14 from 1-3pm
Where:        Del Norte High School, 16601 Nighthawk Lane, San Diego, CA 92127

These 4 major events will be supported by pick-up soccer games and soccer viewing parties in various locations across San Diego and an ongoing campaign to have more soccer players inducted into The Breitbard (San Diego) Hall of Fame including former US international Eric Wynalda.
