PRLog -- Dr. Brune, a Chiropractor at Dolson Avenue Medical, recently participated in a weeklong trip to Saint Marc, Haiti. The project is called Global Health Outreach. Over twenty doctors took part in the trip and treated almost 1,000 people in one of the most poverty stricken areas of the world. The volunteers pay their own way and donate their time and medical expertise to the underprivileged. The Global Health Outreach organizes 35-40 trips per year all over the world. Dr. Stephen explained the process of preparing for the trip; he had to get four different shots and malaria medication over three weeks prior to leaving. Dr. Stephen Brune expressed that he people in Haiti live very hard lives; and that he feels for their daily struggle. Their access to healthcare is limited to nonexistent and they live very hard lives. He revealed that rubble from the January 2010 earthquake and mass graves are still visible over two years after the fact. The most rewarding part, Dr. Brune says, is the opportunity to have “hands-on, manual contact with the patients rather than just giving them a prescription.”
Dr. Brune was able to provide relief through a natural healthcare approach to over 95% of the patients he saw. He humorously noted that the food while on the trip was better than he expected. Dr. Brune appreciates the support of his team at Dolson Avenue Medical and looks forward to additional opportunities to donate his skills to the underprivileged.
