Kansas Cafferty will be presenting his developmental model for building relationships with adolescents in substance abuse counseling. He likens the teens internal world to a family home and illustrates the skills that are needed in order to gain the trust that is essential and elusive to the wellbeing and recovery of a teen with a substance use disorder. The presenter: James "Kansas" Cafferty, LAADC, MCA, MFTI is a seasoned adolescent substance abuse professional. He has served on the NAADAC adolescent specialty committee since 2007. He has been a therapist and/or director for notable treatment programs such as Newport Academy in Corona Del Mar and Orange, CA and Montecatini in Carlsbad, CA.
