Follow on Google News | Cameras For Kids Foundation heads to HaitiIn May 2012, Cameras For Kids Foundation will bring its photography workshop to orphanages in Haiti enabling foster children, some of whom have never held a camera, the opportunity to learn photography and share their images with the world.
By: Betsey Chesler “I have seen the impact that Cameras For Kids has had on underprivileged children in the United States. The response of the children varies from simply feeling proud about their photography and more confident as an individual to the children that decide to further their education in photography, the arts or graphic design, to name a few. We offer them a program that plants the creative seed, and they have the ability to take it as far as they’d like,” said fine art photographer Betsey Chesler who founded CFKF in 2009 after volunteering at orphanages in South Africa. The foundation has provided teachers and mentors to nine foster facilities nationwide. Upon completing the two, full day workshops in Haiti, the children will take pride in signing their name on their work. A second print of the children’s works will be showcased at selected galleries throughout the year. Portions of the sales will benefit SOS Children’s Village in Haiti as well as support CFKF mission to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children.
