Cumberland Hills Career Transition Group Representatives Adam White and Gary Hawkins are all about building relationships.

The colleagues met at Michael's Cafe in Lebanon yesterday to discuss the needs of small business owners and connect with them.

"We started Cumberland Hills with a mission to establish a business networking forum through business events and presentations to help Wilson County’s small and medium size businesses meet and gage existing resources," Hawkins said. "We want to give these people a place to meet, to speak and talk about their goals - and meet entrepreneurs like themselves."

The group will host networking events at the cafe on the first Monday of every month from 2:30-3:30 p.m.

"We want to be a resource facility, especially when it comes to work resources for practical work - typing, faxing, resumes, professional and IT services. We'd for businesses to come to us and say, 'I need this right now' and we can give them the entrance to another business resource in the community that could possibly do that work for them," he continued.

Registration for the Cumberland Hills CTG-TN is $25 and includes a light lunch, structured networking event, and contact list.

"We are trying to compact a lot on information, a lot of engagement, and also light lunch at the same time. Get the word out - we will not push away large businesses, but we are aimed at the people that want to get it started and have specific goals in the first three to twelve months. We want to help them find the resources and expertise they need to get their businesses off the ground," Hawkins said.

"What we would ask from the people who come to us is to be able to speak about your business and give us pertinent information about what you do - what expertise do you think you lack, what resources do you lack."

The group will have a presence on Saturday, April 28 at the Wilson County Job Fair, from 9 a.m. to noon at Cumberland University's Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.
