Jonathan Antoine v’s Susan Boyle

April 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Britains got talent does it again. Trailing the unprecedented success of Susan Boyle, The big ego of talent, Simon Cowell does it again. Coincidence or is this pre prepared publicity designed to bring the show bigger watchers.
There is no question Jonathan Antoine is blessed with a poweverful voice like Pavarotti himself and clearly has struggled with his large size and low confidence throughout his years. He has described in interviews his painful occurrences with tormenters and being left out has left him low on self-assurance. His friend Charlotte Jaconelli is clearly his rock and without her he  may have never made the large step onto the TV show BGT and win the hearts of millions.
Wait, havent we been here some time ago. I remember a Britains got talent 2009. After watching numerous performances offering nothing more than a chuckle, suddenly on walks a simple Scottish lady wearing casual clothes and rugged unbrushed hair, she opens here mouth and sings like a icon of music. Within days the Britains got talent stagehas its biggest star globally. An internet phenomenon. Now lets forward to 2012 show, a young inconspicuous man walks on stage dressed in dreary old stereotypical dark big men clothing, having a bad hair day and sings like a mega star.  
What I dont grasp is Charlotte; Jonathans best friend, is dressedsuitably for a stage audition. Smartly dressed, clean looking and I dont want to keep going on about the hair, but brushed shiny hair. Jonathan on the contrary is stereotyped by Simon as been a typical over weight big man. Why o why did he not at least take off that cardy.
This is my point the BGT stage has found a voice of an angel and in typical Britains got talent form has created a sob story to blow out of all propotion. But this time they did not stop there after all thats been done many many times before so like Susan Boyle they dress him down and give him a stereo type that ordinary viewers watching can relate to and expect another act to titter at. Instead the outcome is so far from what is expected the result is so much bigger. A stop and watch moment.
Only time will tell what becomes of Jonathans talent. I would like to bet now the second stage of the competition heis more formally dressed in a shirt and trousers, hair brushed and looking sharp! From the interviews I have watched of late on Daybreak and more this transition has started to happen, wearing a smarter top and jeans for the Daybreak interview.
Jonathan has a great voice and an incredibly strong attitude expressing he is his own man, saying "I am the way I am and I always will be - if other people don't like me then that's their choice, but I quite like me." c/o Daybreak. This is my point, I just hope BGT does not make a big sob story around him and blow his life into all sorts of tear jerking ways just to boost viewers. In this occasion Jonathan Antoine does not need anything more than his big voice and the soft open heart he is exposing it will just detract away from his passion for music.
