Follow on Google News | Los Angles Angels’ Kendrys Morales getting back into the swing of thingsA fractured ankle 22 months ago has kept Kendrys Morales out of the game. Now, day-by-day he works to get back to the game he loves.
By: Florida Spine Center On May 29, 2010 in Anaheim, Morales hit a walk-off grand slam against the Seattle Mariners. A celebratory leap with teammates resulted in a fractured left ankle and two surgeries a year apart. His swing today is smooth and effortless – the way it once was. With the regular season coming, Morales will be a designated hitter and bat fourth, behind Albert Pujols, in the Angels’ batting order most of the time. Dennis Lox, M.D., a sports, physical and regenerative medicine specialist in the Tampa Bay-area, points out that regenerative medicine techniques, such as platelet-rich plasma and/or stem cell therapy, have been used by many professional athletes to treat musculoskeletal injuries. According to Dr. Lox, based on the public reports, it cannot be determined if a regenerative medicine technique is appropriate or not in Morales’ specific situation, but the application of platelet-rich plasma and stem cell technology is growing in use and acceptance, not only among sports professionals, but everyday citizens as well. These regenerative medicine techniques could help injuries heal more quickly and could possibly help avoid surgery. http://www.DrLox.com # # # Dennis M.
