Fiat 500 Goes Large in Geneva

March 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Italian motor company Fiat have long been famous for their popular range of small cars. Now they have released yet another version of the quirky and cool Fiat 500 at the Geneva automotive show. Fiat believe that the newly extended 500L contributes a new size and appeal to the well-known model and will improve the choice in the range by becoming more of a family car.

The Fiat 500 is commonly recognized as the primary competition to rival Mini, some market commentators see the 500L as a potential substitute to the new Mini Countryman SUV. The price tag is sure to be lower which would add to its appeal.

You could say that the elongated shape of the 500L jeopardises the attractive appearance and quirky charm of the 500 but I don't think it does. Amazingly I actually think this new shape works rather well and would certainly interest me if I were shopping for a family car!
Unsurprisingly (and a little unimaginatively), the L stands for 'large'. This latest version joins the 500C cabrio, Abarth and Gucci editions in the ever expanding 500 range.

My favourite design feature of the Fiat 500 L would have to be the glass ceiling. I look ahead to a test drive at my nearest Fiat dealer when the 500 L releases in the UK later this year.
