One World Trekking Offers Unique Reconnaissance Trek In Nepal

March 27, 2012 - PRLog -- From April 21 to May 5, 2012, One World Trekking is running a research trek in the Annapurna region of Nepal over the 18,000-foot Namun La Pass.

This trip is open to all trekkers, journalists and photographers and the special one time price is $2000.00 per person. One World Tekking will be using the feedback from this group to create a new trekking itinerary for 2013.

In March 2008 Barney Rosedale and Sir Chris Bonington undertook a reconnaissance of the route to the Namun La (18,237ft / 5,560m), a high pass along an old trade route between Pokhara and Manang. This route proved to be a unique and little-traveled way to connect the main Annapurna Circuit Trail. One World Trekking is now offering the opportunity to walk in these famous footsteps across this spectacular region of Nepal’s Annapurna Himalayas.

Only recently introduced to foreigners, the trail to Dudh Pokhari (Milky Lake) and the Namun La Pass is situated on the border of the Lamgung, Manang and Kaski districts of Nepal and provides little-known and little-traveled access onto the great Annapurna Circuit. Legend has it that some three thousand years ago the Tamu community (now Gurung) of Nepal settled in this area after crossing the Namun La Pass from Tibet. This region is also known as Tamuwan and, at one time, had a king and palace.
