March 27, 2012 - PRLog -- The report aims to aid decision makers’ understanding of the key trends impacting this market. Commenting on the report, an analyst from TechNavio’s Networking team said, “Several governments and supervisory organizations across all geographies are bringing in regulations that direct functionality of the type enabled by M2M. While guidelines rarely need a definite technology to be used, M2M is often seen as the most beneficial way of enabling advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and telematics directives. The European Commission is endorsing a Europe-wide telematics initiative so that all new vehicles sold in Europe by 2013 will be using an amalgamation of global positioning system (GPS), sensors and wireless communications.”

According to the report, despite the consistent rise in total unit volumes, there is a dip in total industry revenue, which is in contrast to the upward momentum in revenue observed in 2009 as the market recovered from the 2008 lows. Despite the total unit volume growing consistently in 2010, there was a steep dip in average selling price (ASP), which led to overall decline in revenue.

The report also discusses that many potential customers will find it challenging to integrate cellular M2M technology into their existing products and services.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key players.
