With the sustainable commitment in mind, the hotel has recently launched a “Sustainable Meeting Package” to reduce the carbon footprints for meetings hosted at Eaton. In the “Sustainable Meeting Package”, guests are encouraged to dine Sustainably and Fairly: Sustainably To minimise the carbon footprint, a Sustainable Meeting Menu has been created based on the philosophies below: • Make use of the ingredients from local market to avoid pollution made by food transportation. • Suggest less energy intensive food items (such as meat) and more seasonal vegetable dishes to reduce carbon emissions. • Avoid excessive food decoration and serve water in glass to substitute bottled water in achieving wastage-free environment. Low Carbon Western Set Lunch Menu Organic ocean trout with braised endive, capsicum coulis and capers Lemon and thyme baby chicken with asparagus and shiitake mushroom broth Wild berries with plum wine jelly and green tea ice cream A glass of Kiwi Juice Fair-trade Coffee / Tea Fairly • Use fair-trade products such as coffee and tea to help creating a greener living environment and improving the living standard of impoverished people worldwide. Resources savings Apart from the meeting menu, it is also important for the hotel to save our natural resources: • Electricity- the energy. • Use of the recycled paper stock – Cyclus and Kraft Paper, for all printed collaterals including meeting notepad. Hotel Experience For those guests who stay in our hotel will also enjoy a sustainable accommodation experience: • Green Wall at the lobby Featuring 3,600 Sansevieria trifasciata, these large leaf plants were specifically chosen to assist with improving indoor air quality through photosynthesis with every 10 plants purifying 100 square feet of air by reducing toxin such as Nitrogen Oxide and Formaldehyde. • Bamboo walling and flooring Bamboo is one of the sustainable materials that can be re-grown easily and quickly in a reasonably short time and is typically harvested every four to five years without actually destroying the plant. • Guest of the Earth programme To minimise the energy consumption, the Guest of the Earth programme has been introduced to encourage guest to change their bed sheet only if it is necessary. • Installation of resources saving devices Resources saving devices have been implemented such as solar functioning and low flow taps, LED bulbs, energy and efficient water-cooled chiller system energy etc • Eco tour adventures The hotel also teams up with local travel agencies to provide guests an eco tour adventure, a chance for them to explore the beauty of nature.
