Right Road Productions Wins Two Prestigious Dr. Toy Awards

March 26, 2012 - PRLog -- SIMI VALLEY, CA (SEPTEMBER 2011) – This September Right Road Kids!TM founder Paula Phillips was delighted to hear the news that she has the opportunity to reach more kids and show each one that they are special. Her Right Road Productions company and its inaugural product, Right Road Kids!TM Episode 1:”You Are Special!” DVD, has been honored by Dr.Toy with two awards: “100 Best Children’s Products” and “Top 10 Audio/Visual Products for Children.”

“It is truly an honor for small company like ours to be selected alongside larger organizations like Legos and Fisher-Price,” said Phillips. For nearly two decades Phillips has been providing esteem, character, and enrichment programs to countless schools. At the urging of teachers and parents she launched Right Road Productions to bring her inspirational work to places she could not otherwise reach.

“You Are Special!” provides kids K-6 an experienced, award-winning teacher who presents learning in a fun creative way through motivating lessons (geography, math, science), fun projects, original music, art, and positive life messages. An Activity Book accompanies the DVD that encourages children to deeply engage in learning along with Phillips. Parents and teachers familiar with Phillips work have said that the DVD is their “go to” product to encourage and excite their children.

Dr.Toy’s Guide, started by Stevanne Auerbach (named Wonder Woman of Toys by Playthings Magazine), is the oldest site on the Internet that focuses on the evaluation of toys and resources for consumers. Its goal is to build greater awareness in parents of the play value of various toys in the industry and help them choose the right products to enhance play and learning. “Let’s not forget that ‘play is children’s work,’” reminds Dr. Toy. Auerbach’s selection process considers a product’s fun factor, dependability of company, and applicability to children’s active, creative and educational experiences.  

Paula Phillips founded Right Road Kids!TM (formerly know as The Dream Fund Outreach) after being threatened by a youth during the infamous L.A. Riots in 1992 and felt compelled to help him and others like him. Since then she has been working directly with kids in schools, classrooms, and youth organizations throughout Ventura County and around the country. The non-profit’s mission is to be the instrument for helping kids find and travel their Right Road. Currently 90% of work has been with children in public schools, the majority in at-risk neighborhoods.
