March 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Volunteers are all special and all very much appreciated.  Some go even beyond that and become superstars.

The Governor’s Volunteer Awards program provides an opportunity for organizations to give state-level recognition to those exceptional volunteers and thank them for their commitment.  All Iowa nonprofit, charitable, and government organizations are able to submit nominations for this honor.  KC Hummel, of the Governor’s Volunteer Awards Steering Committee, explains after a ten year absence Council Bluffs will once again be a site of one of the award ceremonies.

According to local program committee chair, Dr. Richard Warner, Governor Branstad and and Lt. Governor Reynolds will be in Council Bluffs  to personally present the awards at the Western Historic Trails Center auditorium, 3434 Richard Downing Avenue, on June 27.  A special program to highlight the spirit of volunteerism is planned for the event by the committee which in addition to Warner consists of Ralph Wright, Karen DeForest, and Gary Emenitove.

The deadline to submit nominations for the volunteer awards is April 6.  Nomination forms are available at www.volunteeriowa.org.
