Covenant Place of Lenexa, KS Breaks Ground on New Retirement Community
A new era in Johnson County senior living began on Wednesday, March 21 with groundbreaking for the 107-unit Covenant Place of Lenexa retirement community.
Participating in the groundbreaking event at 8505 Pflumm Road in Lenexa, KS, were municipal officials and representatives of Covenant Retirement Communities, Inc., Skokie, IL, and the local development and management teams, Scenic Development, LLC, and Pivotal Health Care, LLC.
"This is an exciting day for the Lenexa community," said Mayor Michael Boehm. "Our area residents want and need the quality housing options that Covenant Place of Lenexa will provide."
Once complete, Covenant Place of Lenexa will offer residential Independent Living, Assisted Living, Short-term Rehabilitation and Long-term Care to seniors seeking a wide range of housing and health care choices in a newly built community conveniently located in Lenexa.
"Covenant Place of Lenexa offers seniors the opportunity to enjoy a dynamic lifestyle packed with leisure and social activities,"
Living choices include expansive one- and two-bedroom apartment residences with one to two large bathrooms and spacious closets. Most residences include a fully-equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, and walk-in closets. All are designed to take advantage of natural light while offering individual climate controls to accommodate differing comfort preferences.
Fine restaurant-style dining will be made available to all residents, who will also enjoy other community amenities including a bistro and coffee bar, fitness center, outdoor patios and walking paths, crafts and hobby room, chapel, theatre, library, banking center, underground parking, and more. Resident-centered activity programs, housekeeping, transportation, and concierge services will also be available.
"Covenant Place offers exactly what folks are asking for," said Linda Townsend, Independent Living Director. "Twenty-five percent of the apartments were reserved before we broke ground. Covenant Retirement Communities has such a wonderful reputation of quality care, and people are quickly reserving their place before the waitlist starts."
Residents who are generally able to live independently, but benefit from help for certain activities of daily living, such as bathing, may find the Assisted Living residences at Covenant Place of Lenexa to be the perfect housing choice.
The facility also offers Skilled Nursing care for those in need of post-surgical treatment, rehabilitation, or long-term nursing care up to 24-hours-a-day.
The Lenexa facility is the 16th under the banner of Covenant Retirement Communities (CRC) and the organization's first in the Kansas City area. CRC, which is a ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church, operates senior living communities in eight states and is one of the largest not-for-profit retirement housing organizations in the U.S.
"As part of Covenant Retirement Communities since 1997, I am thrilled to begin the construction of a senior living community in the Kansas City area," said Rick K. Fisk, President and Chief Executive Officer of CRC. "Covenant Place of Lenexa will be an outstanding resource for the area."
No-obligation deposits are now being accepted for preferred residences.
