Rat Pack Tribute Show - How It's Done

When done right, a Rat Pack tribute show has it all, and The Rat Pack Now is that show.

March 21, 2012 - PRLog -- A TRIBUTE ACT IS A PRIVILEGE TO PERFORM. Do it right, or stay home. The trust of beloved souls is in your hands. You are not the original, never will be. If done right, you are the trustee of that soul, that presence, that talent. This is a humbling, important and difficult job. You can't help be compared with the greatness you are depicting and that comparison should be critical. The performer should welcome the discerning eye that keeps them humble to the work and worthy of portraying an iconic star. It is a difficult form of performance art that takes years of experience to execute with complete honesty.
HE'S MY FAVORITE. By nature of what a tribute artist does, we invite comparison to the originals, as well as to fellow tribute artists. Part of the fun for the audience is to pick their favorite, critique the performances, share their opinions. It's the American Idol mentality of rating a performance, of assigning it a score, so to speak. Truth is, a great Rat Pack act is balanced. Only as strong as its weakest element. Each player bringing a skill set to the table and then expertly, organically, weaving it into an entertaining show, creating a multi-dimensional experience for the audience. Like the originals, The Rat Pack Now cast are true friends and like brothers to each other. This natural chemistry reads on stage, as each individual performance rests precisely on the next, gently guiding our audience to laugh, listen, reminisce, discover, shed a tear, and walk away with a lightness of being. But if you still want to rate us, go ahead, it's part of the fun.
FLEXIBILITY OF SPIRIT AND MATERIAL. Granted, the jokes and bits are authentic to the original era and its morals and rules, but hey, this isn't 1962 for real. Subjecting today's audience to that is nothing but self indulgent and reflective of poor judgment and creative laziness. The Rat Pack Now performs parallel material to the real act in the early 60's. New jokes and original skits written and performed in the style and spirit of the era, but fresh and funny and adjusted to the sensibilities of today's world. There is a difference between playing a saloon and a corporate gig, and this is reflected in the material. It's about flexibility and being able to adjust to the event. Even the original Rat Pack performed on TV and worked clean. Know your audience well.
WHO'S THE AUDIENCE? 50 and over "baby boomers", the largest segment of population ever, lived it as children. Boomers along with those a bit older comprise fans of the original Rat Pack, an active, affluent audience segment. Our audiences are comprised of all ages, including those in their 20s, 30s and 40s, who've discovered our cool early 60's style and music standards from the popularity of such hit TV shows as Mad Men. Today's top fashion designers are featuring retro styles of the Rat Pack era for younger buyers. Tony Bennett records duets albums with young talent. This demographic is curious and appreciative of the Rat Pack music and style and we help them to experience it today.
THE RAT PACK NOW IS PREPARED ON ALL FRONTS. Consistency and versatility are key. We play a wide variety of venues and audiences. Backed by big band, small band, or tracks. Running time of 30 to 100 minutes and everything in between. The show is appropriate for all ages and types of audiences. The script and the performances are clean and we are always a hit.
