March 21, 2012 - PRLog -- The YWCA Bergen County, N.J., announced that 18 businesses in the tri-state area will be corporate sponsors of its 38th Annual Tribute to Women & INdustry (TWIN) awards dinner. The TWIN awards honor women for significant contributions to their companies and recognize their sponsoring companies for providing women with opportunities for advancement. This year's gala event will be held on Thursday, April 19 at 5:45 p.m. at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel.

Many corporate partners have been TWIN sponsors for 10, 20 and even 30 years, recognizing outstanding female employees for their business and community achievements. The sponsoring companies for the 2012 TWIN are:

Leaders: Cytec Industries, Inc. and CPR Strategic Marketing Communications
Benefactors: Hackensack University Medical Center, PSE&G, Stryker, Valley Home Care, The Valley Hospital and Unilever
Friends: Boiling Springs Savings Bank, ITT, Mercedes Benz, PNC, Roche, Sharp Electronics Corporation and United Water
Patrons: Bergen Regional Medical Center, KPMG LLP and Van Dyk

"We're proud to be long-time supporters of the YWCA's TWIN awards," said Audrey Meyers, president and CEO of The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. "We believe that communities and families benefit when women succeed in business - it's a win-win situation for all."

This year's honorees include women in the medical, financial, information, insurance, retail and manufacturing fields, along with those in civic affairs and the military.

Brigadier General (U.S. Army, Ret.) Rebecca Halstead is the keynote speaker for the gala dinner. She was the first female Commanding General to lead troops in combat in Iraq and the first female graduate of West Point to be promoted to General Officer. Halstead now heads a leadership consultancy company, STEADFAST Leadership.

"The YWCA provides support for women and families through a wide range of programs," said Helen Archontou, CEO of YWCA Bergen County. "Businesses that sponsor TWIN share our commitment to empowering women and recognize the many contributions made by women in business and, especially this year, in the military."

Proceeds from the event help to support the YWCA Bergen County's diverse women's health programs. The organization's childcare programs and summer camps also receive support, as well as the YWCA's Rape Crisis Center, which provides comprehensive services ranging from prevention programs to 24/7 crisis intervention for victims of sexual violence.

"We believe strongly in the mission of the YWCA Bergen County and we welcome the opportunity to sponsor its TWIN awards program," said Laura Carabello, principal of CPR Strategic Marketing Communications in Elmwood Park, N.J. "These awards recognize truly outstanding women, and they serve to build a circle of leadership that empowers women at all levels."
