Empire City Casino Yonkers Raceway to be Clad with Zinc

March 20, 2012 - PRLog -- The Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway expansion was originally included in the facility’s initial construction plans.  These plans would later be revisited when the need for space to accommodate a video gaming section was identified.  The $40 million addition would create additional revenue for the city and approximately 300 jobs.  In 2011, the facility generated $56.7 million in monthly revenue for the city.

As a part of the expansion, a new east wing with a mezzanine totaling 60,000 square feet will be built.  The project creates more gaming space, increases the number of food and beverage facilities, provides additional storage/mechanical rooms and adds a covered vehicle entrance for valet services.  

MetalTech-USA fabricated the small, medium and large zinc Flat Lock panels for the exterior wall cladding.  The 1.2mm/18-GA Flat Lock tiles were fabricated using titanium zinc with a basic blue gray finish.  The 1.5mm/16-GA Flat Lock panels were perforated to meet design objectives.  

“A graduated perforation technique was used to create the pattern for the Flat Lock panels,” VP Eric Simonsen explains.  “We wanted to create a unique, gradient effect with the custom zinc panels.”

The expansion project for the casino will be finished in 2012.
