tebu-bio supplies Rockland’s fluorescent secondary antibodies for super-resolution STED microscopy

Stimulated Emission Depletion Microscopy (or STED nanoscopy) offers a technological breakthrough in the environment of cell imaging by drastically increasing the resolution over traditional confocal microscopy.

March 26, 2012 - PRLog -- In a recent publication from Leica Microsystems and Rockland Immunochemicals Inc., Chimento et al.* show the exceptional super resolution capacity of Leica TCS STED imaging system by allowing visualisation of AKT-induced structural cellular details and protein interactions at unprecedented levels using unique the properties of unique fluorescent dyes ATTO and DyLight™ (Rockland Immunochemicals).

“Rockland’s ATTO 647N and Dylight™ fluorochromes are known to be excellent tools for conventional confocal microscopy. Interestingly, and due to their unique characteristics, these dyes are powerful companions to STED nanoscopy that overcome diffraction hurdles and resolution issues seen with standard confocal microscope” says Dr. Carl Ascoli (Laboratory Director at Rockland Immunochemicals Inc.). “Our recent collaboration with Leica Microsystems clearly shows the benefits of using our fluorescent secondary antibodies with such equipments to visualise structural details below than 70 nm resolution range” adds Dr. Ascoli.

“Giving access to innovation and innovative technologies is our main aim here at tebu-bio” indicates Philippe Fixe (Marketing Manager at tebu-bio). “Our long-lasting relation with Rockland Immunochemicals teams gives us today the opportunity to provide European researchers with unique and super-resolution tools for assessing extremely fine structures and sub-cellular localization of cell signalling molecular events” adds Dr. Fixe.
