March 20, 2012 - PRLog -- William Gagan, an independent journalist who began reporting on the Occupy Wall Street movement and just recently returned from a crowdfunded reporting mission to Syria, is planning a new operation: #OpAskUganda which will travel to Uganda and investigate the situation there as it relates to the Kony 2012 campaign. With only 2% of Ugandans able to access the internet, it is difficult to hear their response to the Kony video. Mr Gagan will leave for Africa in just under 2 weeks.

"OperationStream is embarking on a new mission, go to Uganda, and start asking questions about their country, about Kony." ~ explains Gagan "We are hearing both good and bad about the Kony video, about how it is adversely affecting the Ugandas to rebuild it's economy, painting the country in a negative light- or maybe it is accurate and true, I am going there to find out"

Crowdfunding journalist trips are something new- and proven possible by Mr Gagan's recent trip to Syria, a mission dubbed #OpLivestreamSyria - which used fundraising site WePay.com, Twitter, and Facebook to present his idea to the world and successfully raise the funds necessary for travel, camera equipment, bulletproof vest, and a local translator. "Uganda is the next mission, people are very curious about it right now" says Gagan.
