Encore Theater Company Proudly Presents The Big Bad Musical

March 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Encore Theater Company (ETC), a children's theater group, proudly presents a production of The Big Bad Musical - A Howling Courtroom Comedy at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Douglassville, PA on April 20 at 7:00pm and April 21 at 1:00pm and 3:30pm, directed by Chris Horan and Marissa Peduto.  Book by Alec Strum.  Music and Lyrics by Bill Francoeur.  The ETC cast of performers consists of students in grades K-8 and make up 8 school districts in Berks, Chester, and Montgomery counties.

A courtroom has never been more lively and fun than in The Big Bad Musical!    The jury — the audience — must decide the outcome of the biggest trial ever in the fairy-tale world!  The notorious Big Bad Wolf is being slapped with a class-action lawsuit by storybooks of quirky characters who want to get even:  Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandmother, the Three Little Pigs and the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf.  With Sydney Grimm as the commentator on live Court TV, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest — the Evil Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother — clash in a trial that will be remembered forever after.  As our wronged fairy tale characters testify, the wolf seems deserving of all that’s coming.  Yet, even though the infamous Evil Stepmother resents doing pro-bono work on such an obviously futile defense, Mr. Wolf makes a good case for himself.  Was he born a criminal, or made one?

Encore is a non-profit organization comprised of children from Kindergarten through 12th grade from Berks, Pennsylvania and the surrounding counties. The goal of this group is to enable its members to gain experience in all aspects of the performing arts.

Encore currently offers its members the opportunity to participate in theatrical/musical productions. Encore also provides hands on training in both the performing arts and technical aspects of a musical/theatrical production. The members strengthen and improve their project management and team working skills (communication, cooperation, planning, etc.) by participating in on-stage as well as technical aspects of theater including assistant directing, choreography, stage management, costume design, light and sound.

Encore is supported by membership dues and fundraising as well as pursuing local corporate sponsorship and grants.
