Credit Card Management Services, Inc. Awarded HUD Grant in Palm Beach County

March 16, 2012 - PRLog -- The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today announced more than $42 million in housing counseling grants to 468 national, regional and local organizations.

Credit Card Management Services, Inc., dba Debthelper.com, a non-profit agency dedicated to its mission of providing compassionate and professional housing counseling and education services, has been awarded Comprehensive, HECM and MMMSA grants for a total of $69,845.

"The HUD-approved counseling agencies this funding supports are crucial in helping struggling families on a one-to-one basis to manage their money, navigate the homebuying process, and secure their financial futures," said HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan. "We fought hard to persuade Congress to restore funding for housing counseling in HUD's budget and now we're working to make these important resources available as quickly as possible."

Credit Card Management Services, Inc.'s funding awards provides for local and national reverse mortgage counseling that will assist Seniors to remain living in their homes; and Debthelper.com will also help to combat predatory lending by helping unwary borrowers avoid potential mortgage scams and other conditions that can result in a loss of equity, increased debt, default, and even foreclosure.

During Fiscal Year 2011, Credit Card Management Services, Inc. provided 9,575 housing clients with one-on-one counseling and 578 clients in group housing counseling sessions. Debthelper.com housing counseling program consists of pre-purchase, homebuyer education, delinquency/default, reverse mortgage (HECM), post-purchase and fair housing counseling.

Credit Card Management Services, Inc. counselors are certified by either NeighborWorks America, the Center of Financial Certification (CFC) and/or are Exam-Qualified in the HUD-HECM Network.
