BMW recently announced the details of the upgrades to the X6 crossover. The new model features light-emitting diodes in the front and rear, a third-row bench seat as an option, and of course choices in engine power, leather and wheels.

The new X6 sports LED headlights alongside BMW's Signature butterfly rings. The adaptive lights angle around corners, and are accented by smaller lights. In the back, new taillights have been equipped with LEDs to emphasize the width of the vehicle.

Nevada leather comes standard, available in black or red. You can also upgrade to nappa leather, which comes in white. The trunk offers 25.6 cubic feet of space, while the seats take up almost 60 cubic feet when they're collapsed. As previously mentioned, you can bump up the passenger capacity to five with the three-seat rear bench option.

In the United States, two models will live on: the 400-HP twin-turbo V8 X6 xDrive 50i, and the 300-HP inline six-cylinder xDrive 35i. Standard to both models is the eight-speed automatic transmission.

Those in search of more can spring for the M performance package which includes a 15HP upgrade and 30 lb-ft of torque with the six-cylinder model, and 40HP and 30 lb-ft for the V8. With the performance package, you also get 20-inch wheels, black chrome exhaust tips, stainless-steel pedals and a few other trim whistles. If that's not enough, buyer can go for the X6M (not to be confused with the M performance package), which offers 555 HP and a 6-speed automatic.
