North Union Farmers Market Presents Our 2012 Season at Crocker Park

March 16, 2012 - PRLog -- In a new location this year, the market will be in front of Regal Cinemas Movie Theater on the corner of Crocker Road and Union Street and will feature vendors with local, Ohio-grown produce, food products and more. The market is held from 9am until 1pm on Saturdays April 14th through December 22nd, 2012.  Local Farmers will unveil their fresh grown produce, dairy and meat products, honey, and maple syrup. Bakers will present delicious artisan breads and pastries, and fine artists and craftsmen round out the festive market.  

Following tradition, we open with a blessing of the market, farms and farmers hoping for a fruitful and prosperous season.  After the blessing, our annual sheep shearing takes place, a real attraction for youngsters. Geoff Baldwin, our sheepshearer, will tell stories to young and old alike, while he shears his sheep. More highlights include local live music by the Burning River Jazz Quartet and our Chef at the Market featuring Chef Carmella Fragassi of La Campagna, who will prepare delicious breakfast samples.

North Union Farmers Market is proud to announce that we will again be accepting SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) Cards at the Crocker Park Market.  SNAP recipients may bring their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards to the farmers market and obtain tokens which may be used to purchase fresh, local vegetables, fruits, dairy products, meat products, honey, preserves, baked goods, plants used to produce food at home and much more.  SNAP recipients should first visit the “Market Information” table to receive tokens before purchasing items.

North Union Farmers Market opens on Saturday April 14th from 9am to 1pm, rain or shine, at Crocker Park. It continues every Saturday through December 22nd, supplying locally grown fresh produce from Ohio farmers.
