-- LONG BEACH, CA, MARCH 15, 2012: Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Long Beach Alumnae Chapter and the Clarissa Manuel Foundation would like to extend an invitation to the community to join us for our 13th Annual Prayer Brunch & Silent Auction. The event will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10 a.m. This year’s event will be at The Grand; 4101 E. Willow Street; Long Beach, California; 90815. Our theme is Prayer: A Journey, Not a Destiny. There will be great entertainment, amazing food and a fabulous silent auction. Our featured speaker for this year’s event is none other than the dynamic Reverend Michael J. Fisher, Pastor of Greater Zion Church. Ticket donations are $55 per person. The purpose of this signature event is to raise money for scholarships for graduating seniors in the greater Long Beach community and other important projects and programs that support and enhance the community.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote academic excellence; to provide scholarships;
to provide support to the underserved;
to educate and stimulate participation in the establishment of positive public policy; and to highlight issues and provide solutions for problems in communities. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has more than 900 chapters worldwide and has initiated over 250,000 members. The Sorority uses its Five-Point Programmatic Thrust of economic development, educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and political awareness and involvement to create its national programs. Long Beach Alumnae Chapter was chartered on February 23, 1986 to serve the greater Long Beach area. The chapter’s focus is to address the important needs of the community that are aligned with the Five-Point Programmatic Thrust.
