World Consumer Rights Day at JMA Pilani Rajasthan
March 15, 2012
-- On 15 March 1962, JFK gave an address to the US congress in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights - “Consumers by definition include us all, they are the largest economic group, affecting and affected by almost every public and private economic decision. Yet they are the only important group... whose views are often not heard.”
JFK was the first world leader and politician to do so, and the consumer movement now marks 15 March every year as World Consumer Rights Day – WCRD as a means of raising global awareness about consumer rights. The theme for 2012 is “Our money, our rights: campaigning for real choice in financial services.” Celebration of WCRD in schools undoubtedly helps inculcate the much desired consumer awareness among children.
