As a result they have found themselves in the unintentional but far from unwelcome position of attracting orders for non-decorated clothing.

Mystified by this trend, Cottonprint's owner Richard Mather has been following up these new orders. As a result he has come to realise that many of these new customers are operating their own printing and embroidery service and have simply been attracted to the low prices on offer and switched from their usual wholesale suppliers.

"We have now reached a stage where we are ordering large volumes of garments from our suppliers, in particular T-shirts, for printing and embroidery orders" Richard told me. "As a result we are paying less and have found ourselves in a position to pass on these savings to our customers ordering wholesale T-shirts through our website. Buying in bulk helps to manage costs and this is as important to us as it is to a start-up or smaller scale T-shirt printer."

Richard went on to explain that well known brands like Fruit of the Loom, Hanes and  Gildan T-shirts are unsurprisingly the most popular as they provide a good option for discerning customers looking for quality made yet  cheap T-shirts.

Many companies in the T-shirt printing industry, large and small, are staying reasonably buoyant despite the recession and Richard put this down to two clear factors: a stable and wide ranging demand for the services across all sectors, ranging from fashion designers working from home to multi-national corporations looking to promote their image combined with price stability for raw materials including cotton.
