Shape Up Challenge Kicks Off March 31 at Miller YMCA

March 13, 2012 - PRLog -- NEWBURY PARK, CALIF.--Community members who have had difficulty keeping their New Year's resolution for a healthier lifestyle or those who want to get in shape before summer have the opportunity to take part in the "Shape Up Challenge" at the Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park. The eight-week program kicks off on March 31 with an initial body analysis at the Y (320 Via Las Brisas, Newbury Park).

   "The program is designed to help you slim down and shape up by giving you the tools and incentives to become a healthier more active person," says Kara Hensley, Miller Y's healthy living and aquatics director. "The challenge is self-paced and anonymous so only you know your start weight and your progress."

   The Shape Up Challenge includes nutrition and fitness consultation, two body composition tests--on March 31 at the kick-off and May 26 when the challenge ends, a 45-minute nutrition, a fitness evaluation and weekly weigh-ins that can be done at the Y or at home. It also includes a modified meal plan, food and exercise journal, a workout plan, a goodie bag, complimentary TRX suspension training classes, weekly food and exercise tips and a chance to with a $200 shopping spree at Nordstrom's.
