Nimby, the San Francisco Bay Area's premier production facility will once again be at the San Francisco Bay Area Makers Faire. Nimby continues to provide fair goers with a hands on experience that is outside the scope of most home do it yourself shops. Nimby will be helping kids build with sheet metal, weld steel into sculptures and more.
Nimby provides over 60,000 square feet of space where many talented people work on projects ranging from hand blown glass chandeliers, race cars, jewelry, yurts, amazing rolling art galleries and more.
Nimby bridges the gap between young and old, skilled and newbie, professional and hobbyist by providing a collaborative, comfortable environment where skill can be shared and new directions explored.
Founded in 2004 by Michael Snook Nimby has continued to successfully navigate the stormy waters of regulations and requirements. Nimby, known for such events as Fight Night, Combots, battling robots, Lost Vegas and too many stage productions shows to begin to name them all. Nimby is one of the few places where amateur and professional dancers, aerialist and exotic performers, Yo-Yo wranglers, Snake Charmers, Belly Dancers and more are welcome to share the stage. Recently Nimby was host to the Oakland Underground Film Festival with two nights of wonderful films and videos from all over the world.
Nimby has been used for film sets, numerous music videos and many, many photo shoots. With it's varied architecture and fluid backdrops Nimby is the ideal location for industrial backgrounds ivarc while being able to provide tame office environments as needed.
Currently Nimby is, in addition to it's regular tenants, home to the Magic Love Bus, www.MagicLoveBus.org the love bus will be heading out on tour soon, bringing magic everywhere is goes. Richard Felix is working on Mobile art gallery, www.artismobil.us a fantastic way for many talented large scale painters to showcase their work throughout the Bay Area and further.
