Nj Hip Hop Stand-outs To Perform With Rap Superstar

Local rappers Bigg Redd and Universol return to Starland Ballroom with Tech N9NE

March 11, 2012 - PRLog -- SAYERVILLE, NJ (3/9/2012) - Bigg Redd and Universol , two of central New Jersey’s more prevalent un-derground rappers, are again going to perform at the Starland Ballroom in Sayerville, NJ on June 16 in support of world famous rapper Tech N9NE. Both are solo artists who have teamed up before to both perform and record. This performance, however, will be slightly different. In the past, these rappers have performed with one rapper backing up (or “hyping” for) the other. On June 16 the two will share the spotlight evenly – each performing their own songs as well as songs they’ve recorded together. Both Bigg Redd and Universol have tickets for the June 16 Tech N9NE show available for sale.

Universol (also known as Uni V Sol) has managed to develop his music career into one of increasing success steadily over the past few years. He’s done so with the same kind of drive and determination that has lead Tech N9NE to become the top selling “Indie” (independent of a major record label) rapper of all time. In 2010, Universol  was nominated for “The Most Original Artist” award by the Underground Music Awards. His single “I Need You” was in the Top 10 most played songs on college rap radio. Universol played shows with hip hop legends the Wu Tang Clan and 50 Cent protégé’ Lloyd Banks. 2011 saw the release of the Wonder Boy Project, Universol’s personal tribute to Stevie Wonder (each song contains a sample of a Stevie Wonder song). Microsoft picked up Universol’s single “Di Cok” and used it in the Windows Media Guide. Just prior to 2012, Microsoft used another Universol song, “Can We Reminisce” for the new Windows Media Guide. The Underground Music Awards again recognize Uni by nominating him for the “Essence of Hip Hop” award and Justo’s Mixtape Awards nominate the Wonder Boy Project for Street Album of the Year. With the Wonder Boy Project still gaining momentum, Uni puts out I Am Universol  (his first, official, full length album)on his own Radiowreck Music Group label. Although not nominated,  Uni V Sol's I Am Universol album made the 54th Grammy Entry list, as did his single "Di Cok" and the collaborative track with singer/songwriter Te-resa Cook "Ain't From Round Here".

Bigg Redd has also been working on making his mark in the music world. He was half the duo BFTDS, who had the hits “What’s Juggalatin’” and “In The Mosh Pit”. They performed regularly in the tri-state area and performed with such notables as Paul Wall, the Insane Clown Posse, as well as Tech N9NE. He released his solo single “In Ya Area” in the summer of 2011. The song has made its way through the underground channels and has begun to surface on internet radio and in clubs. Bigg Redd has also made several contributions to various mixtapes and compilations. At the beginning of this year, Bigg Redd signed a recording contract with upstart label B&M out of Philadelphia. His first B&M release, The ReHeaded Def Child will be available for purchase and download on Tuesday May 8. The album is being produced by Chad West (Jay Z, Beanie Siegel, Freeway).
