March 9, 2012 - PRLog -- The Bob Holz Band Debuts Higher than the Clouds
The latest brain child of legendary percussionist Bob Holz is finally ready to be released upon the ears of the world, featuring a dynamic collaboration with some of the most talented names in the business. Joining forces with Grammy-nominated artist Frank Stepanek and renowned New York bassist Mike Shoefter, the trio created a fiery set of tracks for The Bob Holz Band’s debut LP Higher than the Clouds.
Formed two years ago, the group almost immediately began turning heads, thanks to their respective burgeoning resumes and stellar chops within the blues, rock and funk genres. Holz comes from a lengthy education of drumming and percussion mastery including studying at the Berklee School of Music, as well as learning from Dave Weckl, Billy Cobham and Clayton Cameron. He’s performed with stars ranging from Peter Tosh and The Outlaws to Shemika Copeland and Benny Mardones.
While playing with the popular reggae outfit, Black Uhuru, singer/songwriter/guitarist Stepanek was nominated for three Grammys, along with receiving worldwide radio airplay and participating in numerous global tours. Bassist Mike Schoefter has remained a name stay in the New York City music scene for years, appearing on seemingly endless amounts of recordings throughout his tenure.
Once the lineup was solidified, they burst onto the scene, making their indelible mark with a performance at Funktoberfest, featuring George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic in October 2011. By backing the exciting event up with an appearance at Reggae Fest for Climate Protection as well as shows with Orleans and Bad Company, The Bob Holz Band is ready to blast off.
Co-written by Holz and Stepanek, Higher than the Clouds descended upon the scene on March 1, 2012, featuring 10 hair-raising, energetic tracks which deliver an addictive platter of musical flavors to the listener. Experiencing moments of rock, blues and funk with a dash of psychedelic influence, the album sees a bonafide trio of musical greats at their best.
A song off the LP, “All that I Need” caught the eye of Examiner.com music writer David Garlow, who said “Cool rhythms, mellow vibe, and just an overall good tune…Nice job guys!”
Following the album’s anticipated release, the group is making preparations to hit the road again to share their already well recognized musical prowess. With decades of experience and hundreds of live shows already under their belts, fans should keep their eyes peeled for some truly special moments coming soon to cities around the world.
Higher than the Clouds is available now through digital retailers everywhere and fans can check out streaming tracks through the group’s official MySpace, Facebook or ReverbNation pages. Follow them @BobHolz on Twitter or check out YouTube for videos and more.
