March 8, 2012 - PRLog -- VETransfer congratulates 3 of the Veterans participating in our entrepreneurship program as they move into the semi-final round of the Wisconsin Governor's Business Plan Contest!

Designed to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in Wisconsin, this round of the contest requires contestants to write a business plan of no more than 1,000 words, detailing their product or service, defining their customer base, estimating the size of their market, identifying competitors, and providing background and financial information. The contest saw 248 initial entrants, and 51 have moved on to the semi-final round.

Of these 51, three Veteran owned ventures help demonstrate the success of the program from which they gain support and mentoring, VETransfer. Dave Westlake, of Delafield, is an Army Veteran and is founder and president of Print Command. His cyber-security company focuses on securing printers and print networks, offering an innovative, industry-leading security solution. Christopher Kemp, an Army Veteran from Milwaukee, has moved forward in the contest with an environmentally friendly, innovative business plan for cleaning up contaminated soil and sediment. Chris Johnson, an Air Force Veteran from Middleton, is the founder and CEO of Pilot Training System, a software company making flying safer and flight training more cost effective through advancing flight simulation and training technology.

The contest, which is in it’s ninth year, is a joint effort produced by the Wisconsin Technology Council, the Wisconsin Innovation Network, the Wisconsin Angel Network, and other Wisconsin organizations aiming to promote economic growth in the state through innovation and entrepreneurship. After narrowing the contestants, the top 12 will be chosen to present at the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference in June, and will be eligible for prizes totaling more than $200,000.
