– Today, Latinos in Social Media extends an invitation to an interactive session “The White House On The Road,” organized in partnership with the White House Initiative for Excellence in Education for Hispanics. The session will feature panelists Jose Rico, Executive Director for the White House Initative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics and Giovanni Rodriguez, Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer for Deloitte Postdigital Enterprise and Board Member for Latinos in Social Media. Tech bloggers, social media enthusiasts and those interested in politics and government may RSVP to the session by visiting: http://schedule.sxsw.com/2012/events/event_IAP100047

“The White House – On The Road” session will provide an in-depth look at the strategy behind the White House town halls, a digitally-powered program that enables live engagement with Latin-America citizens throughout the U.S. The town halls are multi-city event series where the White House sends some of its key officials to meet, engage, and work with local leaders on a wide range of projects, and to facilitate in-depth discussions on topics from education to jobs and the economy, health care and the need to fix our nation’s broken immigration system. The session will also explore how this groundbreaking initiative may very well become the next frontier for interactive civic engagement.

“As an organization at the crux of the Latino and digital cultures, we welcome the opportunity to collaborate with the White House in facilitating this session,” said Ana Roca Castro, LATISM’s Founder and Chair. “We are proud partners to the White House in various initiatives, including the Initiative on Excellence in Education for Hispanics and the Department of Labor’s recently-launched Equality App development campaign, and have strong relationships with several technology corporations and investors. As such, this session will provide a welcome opportunity for us to connect with the Latino blogging community attending the South by Southwest conference, particularly tech bloggers, and to discuss our exciting lineup of upcoming tech-related events and initiatives this year.”
