PCA Puts Flooding, Japanese Knotweed and The Green Deal Under The Spotlight At Speaker Event

March 8, 2012 - PRLog -- UK trade body the Property Care Association (PCA) is bringing together industry experts in Japanese Knotweed, the Green Deal and flooding to speak at its annual conference.

Taking place at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on Thursday 29 March, the PCA’s Speaker Event runs from 11am to 1.30pm and is likely to be of interest to a wide-range of property and construction professionals.

The cost of the event, including lunch, is just £17+VAT for PCA members and £25 + VAT for non-members.

Attendance will accrue two points per presentation (six points overall) for anyone participating in a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) scheme.  

The speakers include Philip Santo, a Chartered Surveyor with more than 35 years’ experience as a residential surveyor and valuer, who will be talking at the event about Japanese Knotweed.

A consultant for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Philip represented RICS and lenders on the Japanese Knotweed Working Group and facilitated the forthcoming RICS Information Paper, Japanese Knotweed and Residential Property.

Information on the Green Deal will be covered by James Walker, an Innovation Project Manager for Kingfisher, with a particular focus on the company’s eco development.

James is currently working on a Government trial project to understand what services, products and finance might be needed to encourage homeowners to make eco improvements to their homes.

Finally, Mary Dhonau, the Chief Executive of ‘Know Your Flood Risk’ campaign will be talking about the issue of flooding.

Mary has represented the ‘voice of the flood victim’ at Government level in the media and at many flood risk management national conferences. She was awarded an OBE in 2009 for her services to the environment,

Later in the evening, the PCA will hold its awards ceremony at the Millennium Stadium, which is open to members only and celebrates their work across the structural waterproofing, wood preservation, damp-proofing, flood remediation and structural repair sectors.

In-keeping with the high profile venue, legendary Bath, England and British Lions prop Gareth Chilcott will entertain guests with stories from the game.
