Park Hyatt Saigon Holds Hands with Loreto to Celebrate the Opening of Khanh Binh Tay Kindergarten

Project to fund and build a new kindergarten in the poverty-stricken village of Khanh Binh Tay Village to develop much needed primary education in the area

March 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, March 8, 2012 – Park Hyatt Saigon and Loreto Vietnam – Australia Program (LVAP) team up to build a new kindergarten in the Khanh Binh Tay Village, Tran Van Thoi District, Ca Mau Province, as part of the hotel’s humanitarian commitment to the local community.  Breaking ground on July 21, 2011, this initiative aimed to increase educational enrichment in the Tran Van Thoi District. With the help of Ca Mau Union of Friendship Organizations and the Tran Van Thoi Hamlet People’s Committee, the long-awaited grand opening took place on March 1, 2012.

A destitute region with a population of 13,789 people, Khanh Binh Tay is in urgent need of assistance for the provision of children’s education. With undeveloped infrastructure and household income generated only through agriculture, farming, and aquaculture, children are unable to learn basic primary skill sets due to the lack of facilities and resources. According to Trish Franklin, CEO of LVAP, “Early Childhood Education can be the single greatest difference between success and failure in society.”

The total funding for this kindergarten amounted to more than VND 1.6 billion, where VND 200 million was donated by Park Hyatt Saigon, through the Hyatt Community Grants program.  The funds from this philanthropic program, through the Hyatt Hotels Foundation, provided equipment for the new kindergarten.  With a capacity for 210 students, the kindergarten will not only deliver early education, but have an impact on the families in this community by providing employment.
