March 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Santa Clara, Calif. March 7, 2012: The Art of Living Foundation announced today that it is launching California Meditates, a movement that allows Californians to recharge and rejuvenate through the powerful benefits of meditation to improve their physical and emotional well being. The 30 day Meditation Challenge will begin March 7 and be offered in more than 15 cities across Northern California.

California Meditates offers individuals a unique opportunity to meditate under the guidance of experienced and trained instructors to get stress-relief and experience relaxation. The  meditations will enable participants to feel refreshed and be infused with properties of energy, intelligence and creativity that can be utilized more effectively in daily life. Participants can choose to enroll for any number of days during the challenge period. They will have access to a combination of online meditations guided by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and personal group meditations through a neighborhood center. A team of dedicated instructors will provide support to the participants to make meditation an integral part of their daily life. Participants will receive motivational tips and also be able to connect with an online community of fellow participants.

“Each of us has unique positive qualities which can be nurtured through the practice of meditation which gives inner peace and strength to move ahead, unshaken by the events of life,” said Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, global humanitarian and founder of the Art of Living Foundation.

“People with greater responsibility and ambition have a greater need to meditate. Meditation not only relieves us from stress but also enhances our abilities and strengthens the nervous system,” said Rajshree Patel, senior instructor at the Art of Living Foundation.

The 30 day challenge period will culminate with a gala celebration on April 8 in Cupertino, California. Check out our video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mX...

Several scientific studies at research institutes throughout the world have documented that meditation significantly reduces stress, depression and anxiety. This simple discipline energizes the body and mind, while increasing focus and concentration and creates more harmonious relationships at work and home.

Working for non-violence and human values, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has spent several decades bringing peace to both individuals and communities. His two nonprofit organizations – the Art of Living Foundation and International Association for Human Values have brought trauma relief in regions of conflict and natural disaster around the world. As an advocate for human values, Sri Sri has been invited to speak at numerous global forums, including the European Parliament, TED and the World Economic Forum. He has reached out to more than 30 million people in over 150 countries.
