Follow on Google News | Montgomery County Toastmaster Members compete in 3-3-12 Area Contests.Ron Lawrence, TM and Mike Meier, DTM both of Hillsboro, IL competed on behalf of the Montgomery County Toastmasters Club at the Area 1 Contest, Saturday morning 3-3-12 at the Public Library in Jacksonville, IL.
By: Montgomery County Toastmasters Lawrence participated in the International Speech Contest, which required him to give a five to seven minute timed speech. During his presentation which was entitled “The Power of One”, Ron talked about his experiences while visiting a country church in Southern Illinois, how one person can impact the lives of others, and that we should all strive to become that 'power of one' for someone else. Meier competed in the Speech Evaluation Contest and was runner-up in the event. Meier and other contestants each gave a two to three minute evaluation of a speech given by an appointed “test speaker.” Meier will be an alternate for the Division C Contest, Saturday, April 7, 2012 in Springfield. More than forty people attended the Area 1 International Speech and Evaluation competition, including contestants from IL Toastmasters clubs based in Divernon, Hillsboro, Springfield, and Quincy. The Montgomery County Toastmasters Club #1252478 will have its next meeting from 7pm to 8pm, Tuesday, March 6 at the Challacombe House in Hillsboro.
