Professional Lesbian Networking Meetup Group in Miami, FL.

March 2, 2012 - PRLog -- (Miami, Fl. – February 6, 2012) Freedom To Be Me has formed the Meetup Group Professional Lesbians of South Florida to provide an opportunity for local lesbian professionals in Miami-Dade and Broward County to network and socialize. The idea derived from a local lesbian entrepreneur wanting to network and mingle with other like-minded entrepreneurs and professional women in the community.
The South Florida Professionals Group was formed in August 2011 and now host over 70 members through the popular Meetup.com website. Meetups are organized groups of individuals that have a common interest and seek to improve personally, professionally or contribute to their community.  Members of the Professional Lesbians of South Florida consist of industries in healthcare, hospitality, law, and journalism. The some of the members are currently OT’s, MD’s, Professors, Pharmacist and Project Mangers.
The organization’s goal is networking which is important with the number of unemployed individuals in South Florida. The Meetup gives each member an opportunity to introduce themselves and discuss their needs for clients, business ideas and employment. A new member recently received a lead from one of the members during her first attendance at the networking event held every third Wednesday of the month.  They were able to exchange job leads and networking ideas.
The networking group is not only limiting itself to business building and personal growth as its sole goal but as a social organization for lesbian or bisexual women that want to give back to her community. Thus far the group has enjoyed volunteering for the Hands2HelpInc.org , 14th annual Holiday Cheers Christmas Toy Give Away. The group has also organized a vision board party, wine tastings, dinner, happy hour and attended the Suntrust Sunday Jazz Brunch. The activity list is unlimited since members are also able to suggest activities.
Kay Richardson, founder of Freedom To Be Me and Professional Lesbians is also attempting to establish business develop tools for local lesbian entrepreneurs to grow their business. Kay will connect with local experts to educate business owners and entrepreneurs about social media, branding, marketing, website optimization, and improving public speaking skills. Additionally, as part of a new effort the Lesbian Professionals Group has also been talking about promoting the first Freedom To Be Me Cruise in the late summer of 2012.
The group hopes that it will continue to grow in size and that it will help shape a community of gay friendly, bisexual , lesbian entrepreneurs and professionals committed to networking and sharing common interests.
