Local Miami Author Turns Self-publishing Into A Career

Miami resident Chris Ossman releases 3 new books. A picture book called Where Do I Belong?; a young reader's novel, Far Beyond; and, Short Shorts, a collection of odd and unrelated stories, on March 2, 2012 by CSO Publishing, Miami, Florida.

March 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Local author and Miami resident Chris Ossman starts his own publishing company and releases 3 new books.  Targeting all age groups, Mr. Ossman's works include picture books, children's and adult novels.

No longer interested in the world of Big Publishers, Chris has released his books, through the various publishing programs offered by Amazon, Barnes & Noble and most recently iTunes,

"Honestly, for a long time now, I've felt that my talents as a writer were being recognized by critics through reviews and awards, but not by the big publishing houses.  That's why I chose to distribute these books myself, which was made possible by the explosion of eReaders available on the market today."

"I look at publishing the same way that I looked at the music industry years back.  The major music labels failed to adapt to the market; allowing business men to make creative decisions and not reacting to mp3s which led to a severely diminished market share.  They didn't adapt and neither have book publishers."

Since deciding to self-publish, Chris has released the following works:
Where Do I Belong?, a picture and the first story in the "Tuft's Adventures" series;
Far Beyond, Book 1 of the Far Beyond series, which introduces Fabian, Kelcy and a host of magical creatures to young readers;  and Short Shorts, a collection of short tales about Life, Death and what possibly comes afterwards.  Short Shorts contains the story "The Profiler", which introduces Doctor Phillip McLeod, the main character in Serial Serial, Mr. Ossman's next novel.

Besides writing these books, Mr. Ossman illustrated, designed and provided the layout of all three books, which made opening his own publishing firm the next logical step.  Some of the services that Mr. Ossman hopes to offer include editing, proof reading, formatting for both eBooks and paperbacks and marketing.

All of Chris' books are available in paperback and ebook formats at Amazon.com and CreateSpace.com.
