March 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Northern California photographer Stephen Joseph, known for his signature landscape panoramas, was recognized for his contributions to community through his art by the Contra Costa Association of REALTORS® at its January 7, 2012 Gala and Installation Banquet.

Joseph received the Living Treasure Award from incoming CCAR President Barbara Safran, who noted that Joseph was being recognized for his creative achievements the past 25+ years capturing and sharing the beauty of Mount Diablo through the art and craft of photography, and “for continuing to embrace and interpret Mount Diablo through a compelling body of images of quite unexpected beauty and quality, from the perspective of both an artist and a naturalist, in an effort to save and protect this precious land and its natural resources.” Visit www.StephenJosephPhoto.com.

During the evening, gala presenters and guest speakers were given a copy of Joseph’s most recent book, "Mount Diablo, The Extraordinary Life and Landscapes of a California Treasure," a fine art pictorial, authored by Linda Rimac Colberg and published by Mount Diablo Interpretive Association, showcasing Mount Diablo in portraits and panoramas.

Joseph’s work has also been recognized by County Connection, which recently unveiled three new para-transit vans sporting a stunning Stephen Joseph panoramic image of Mount Diablo. Employing a vinyl wrap of the mountain on the complete exterior of the vans, County Connection took a decidedly innovative approach to celebrating the county’s most familiar landmark and acknowledging Joseph’s work.

Joseph’s landscape art is currently on display as large format prints in a number of commissioned installations, including Sunset Development Company (Bishop Ranch 3, 2603 Camino Ramon, 2nd & 4th Floors, San Ramon); CCAR (1870 Olympic Blvd,. Suite 200, Walnut Creek), and the John Muir Historic site (4202 Alhambra Avenue, Martinez).

His intimate images of John Muir’s plant specimens and large format panoramas of Yosemite were recently exhibited at the Oakland Museum of California (8/6/ 2011-1/22/12), part of the multi-media, interactive exhibit "A Walk in the Wild: Continuing John Muir’s Journey." And a traveling exhibit, "Nature’s Beloved Son," curated by the Bedford Gallery (Walnut Creek, CA) and based on Joseph’s book of the same title, written by John Muir scholar Bonnie Gisel, is currently on tour around the country.

A new Stephen Joseph exhibit featuring four distinctive California destinations – Mount Diablo, Yosemite, Sonoma Coast, and Muir Woods – is slated for the Commonwealth Club of California (595 Market Street, 2nd Fl, San Francisco, CA) in March 2012.

Stephen Joseph is a distinguished Northern California photographer known for his signature landscape panoramas that capture California’s distinctive geographic regions and rich, natural beauty in large and dramatic imagery.
