March 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Westport, CT – In celebration of International Women’s Day, Geringer Global Travel is offering a small group 15-day women’s journey to North India discovering how Indian women have been an inspiration for many. From November 3 – November 18, 2012, guests will visit the cities and villages of Delhi, Varanasi, Khajuraho, Agra, Jaipur, Nimaj, Kumbhalgarh, and Udaipur, exploring India’s remarkable highlights, participating in an evening of Diwali festivities and learning how women have been worshipped as the goddess of power, knowledge and wealth in many parts of the country. The Spirit of the Indian Women starts at $4,599 per person, double and includes hotel accommodations, all meals, chauffeured transportation, Indian woman group leader throughout the tour, destination guide at each place of sightseeing, and more.*

Susan Geringer, India travel and tour specialist, and an Indian woman group leader will accompany guests from beginning to end. Throughout the tour, the group leader will talk on subjects relating to women in India including: Religion and Women, The Role of Women in a Patriarchal Family, Sensuality of Indian Women, and The King's Love for his Queen. Immersion into the culture and one-on-one interaction with the local people is also an important element in this itinerary. Below are a few examples of the opportunities participants will have to engage with Indian women in the communities:

•   Exchange views on the role of women in today’s India with a woman lecturer at Delhi University
•   Visit one of the Widows’ Homes in Varanasi
•   Visit the Indian kitchen of one of the Noble families “Mandawa” to experience a cooking demonstration followed by dinner
•   Diwali Festival, or Festival of Lights
•   Interact with the women of SADHNA, a Women’s Handicraft Enterprise dedicated to providing an alternative means of livelihood and income for the women of rural, tribal and urban slums of the Udaipur region
•   Visit the BEDLA family to learn about ‘The Taste of Mewar’ and recipes that have delighted generations of royal and democratic patrons

In addition, guests will have the chance to visit India during Diwali or Deepavali, one of the most important festivals of the year for Hindus and an official holiday in India. Also known as the Festival of Lights, families celebrate Diwali by performing traditional activities together in their homes. Guests will have a chance to join the celebration by having a walking tour of Jaipur enjoying fireworks, floral decorations, candle-lit houses, and Indian sweets.

This small group tour, with no more than 14 people, includes: hotel accommodations for 14 nights; all meals; chauffeured transportation in an air conditioned mini coach; English-speaking Indian woman group leader accompanying entire trip; destination guide at eaceh place of sightseeing; entrance fees; all domestic transportation; all current applicable taxes.
