Beginning today, meticulous planning and expert operations get underway for the opening of ‘Get Your Voice On: A Celebration of Women,’ a carefully orchestrated and uniquely fortifying 36-hour event scheduled for New York City, March 1 - 2, 2013.

This inaugural gathering, where throngs of women will create powerful relationships, find and raise their voices to make a difference, locally and globally, is also the kickoff for a planned ten-year program of groundbreaking capability- and awareness-building activities, shared experiences, and events which will be held in midtown Manhattan during the first weekend in March, through the year 2022.

The ambitious undertaking grew out of the March 8, 2011 gatherings that celebrated the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day.

Despite all that has been done so far, by and on behalf of women’s interests, no program or project in support of the world’s women has ever been as grandly conceived and socially purposeful as Get Your Voice On, a grass-roots collaboration between attendees and a roster of thoughtfully selected presenters, vendors, sponsors, and partners.

Among its other benefits, ‘Get Your Voice On: A Celebration of Women’ provides an unmatched opportunity for women to marshal their own interests, agendas, skills, and passions in order to:

•   Celebrate the past, present and future of women’s voices: all ages and cultures
•   Connect with like-minded individuals in support of mutually-aligned interests, passions and values
•   Collaborate on ideas, missions, visions, philosophies, businesses and causes, to generate more positive local and global impact
•   Create a well-defined path toward a future filled with women’s acceptance everywhere, effectiveness, accomplishment, and freedom to speak up and speak out

“There has never been an event like this in New York City,” says Jennifer S. Wilkov, co-founder of Get Your Voice On.  Michele Mattia, organization co-founder, elaborates, “Think of a California women’s gathering, or The Massachusetts Conference for Women, but happening in New York City, with all its resources and potential. It’s groundbreaking.”

Over the coming decade, the ten annual events establishing the backbone of the Get Your Voice On project are strategically timed for the start of Women’s History Month every March, which itself presents an amazing calendar of events. But ‘Get Your Voice On: A Celebration of Women’ is much more than an introduction to other activities. It’s an incubator for individual women and women’s organizations to imagine, develop and realize the presentation of their own visions, to and for others.

“We see a lot of women not speaking up or out,” says Ms. Wilkov, “held back by unwarranted fears."

“‘Get Your Voice On: A Celebration of Women’ creates momentum for women,” says Ms. Mattia, “to drive forward their own passionate causes and agendas.”

Among the innovative elements within the first year’s edition of ‘Get Your Voice On: A Celebration of Women’ will be a mother/daughter ticket (daughters must be 16 or older), an opportunity for family women to participate and benefit as a unit from the event’s experiences.

“The mother/daughter ticket will stimulate special energies,” says Ms. Wilkov, “for bonding, for sharing passions and insights, for inspiring and grooming young women to find their own voices and take on leadership, and – yes – to help young women recognize their potential as role models for older women.”

Carefully planned to maximize the event’s impact and after-effects, the 2013 edition of ‘Get Your Voice On: A Celebration of Women’ includes a Friday night facilitated-networking event and leading-edge exhibitor expo, followed by a day-long Saturday motivational and capability-building sequence that features notable keynote speakers, stimulating breakout sessions, live music, remarkable author signings, and an innovative Get Your Voice On recording booth where women can succeed in widely, publicly promulgating their own mission and vision statements.

“Our intention is for women to obtain long-lasting benefits from the event,” says Ms. Mattia, “not merely to feel good, but immersion in opportunities to ‘get it,’ to learn how to achieve what they want, how to push forward with their own individual agenda and project.”

“‘Get Your Voice On: A Celebration of Women’ is going to fulfill some dreams and create new ones,” points out Ms. Wilkov. “It’s going to provide a higher level of strength, capability, and courage for women to come together as women in support of women, as well as having a good time and knowing that's okay. Our Saturday night celebration and closing ceremony is going to rock!”

Recordings of 2013’s ‘Get Your Voice On: A Celebration of Women’ speeches, activities and experiences will be made available online for later review by non-attendees. Tickets are expected to go on sale before the end of 2012. A limited number of scholarships will be available.
