Twitter vs Facebook, Apple picked Twitter why are you not? By Johnathan Smith

Feb. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- I am really start to feel that the days of Facebook is numbered and this maybe the year of the "tweets".  Facebook loves to collect huge amounts of data from its users and use it for sending it out to Advertisers.  Based on information you keep posting on your profile facebook knows which ads to promote on your page and also sends the data out to Advertisers.  Facebook is all about sharing as much information as possible, that they can suck out of you. This has been shown and reported time and time again, and they are now taking control of many (make that most) forums, where you have to log into facebook, even to comment! I am about sharing as little personal information as I can online. Facebook is the opposite of my goals. My friends say “but John, when all my privacy is locked down, its private!” You can’t make some folks understand. Once its out there on facebook, you are at their mercy, with their continual privacy changes, etc. and who they want to sell your information to at the moment. I personally don’t trust anything from Facebook anymore.  Most IT security firms now warn users to remove all personal information from their profiles, lest rogue applications with malicious intent — like spammers and those that illegally trade in credit card information — take hold of your data.  Your information on your profile can all be pushed to marketing firms.  This is not what we want is it?  we just want a way to share some information with friends, some comments, photos etc but with Facebook its now about making money and marketing.

Is this the year of the "tweets"..  I say yes.  we all should look into using twitter.... Look at Apple! why did Apple pick twitter: control, privacy, platform, and competition are just some of the reasons both iOS and OS X integrate Twitter but not Facebook. Think about it...  Is Apple Smarter then you?

Before you think about using Facebook anymore you should read the following two web sites:

http://www.imore.com/2012/02/26/apple-choosing-twitter-in... and also http://www.twitip.com/twitter-versus-facebook/

After reading the two you should have the same feeling as I do.. its time to kick Facebook good bye and say hello to Twitter again!

What is Twitter:  Twitter is an online social networking service and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read text-based posts of up to 140 characters, known as "tweets". It was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey and launched that July. The service rapidly gained worldwide popularity, with over 300 million users as of 2011, generating over 300 million tweets and handling over 1.6 billion search queries per day. It has been described as "the SMS of the Internet."

Twitter Inc. is based in San Francisco, with additional servers and offices in New York City.

What is Facebook: Facebook is a social networking service and website launched in February 2004, operated and privately owned by Facebook Inc.. As of February 2012, Facebook has more than 845 million active users. Users must register before using the site, after which they may create a personal profile, add other users as friends, and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when they update their profile. Additionally, users may join common-interest user groups, organized by workplace, school or college, or other characteristics, and categorize their friends into lists such as "People From Work" or "Close Friends". The name of the service stems from the colloquial name for the book given to students at the start of the academic year by some university administrations in the United States to help students get to know each other. Facebook allows any users who declare themselves to be at least 13 years old to become registered users of the site.
