Feb. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- It’s been 3 weeks since the Trichologists at the Natures Gentle Touch hair institute embarked on a 6 weeks hair care challenge to help restore the integrity of the hair and scalp of 6 women. The project which is been done in partnership with TW Magazine is aimed at helping African women understand their hair and scalp challenges and show them how to overcome it through treatment and healthy hair care practices. It is also an opportunity to demonstrate the efficacy of Natures Gentle Touch products starting from her newly introduced anti hair breakage and dandruff solutions, to her well known healthy hair formulas.

The hair care challenge started with 6 women who had different hair and scalp problems. They were selected through a pool conducted by TW. During their first consultation, each participant was assigned to a particular Trichologists who will administer and follow her treatment throughout the 6 weeks. There are 3 Trichologists and each of them has 2 candidates to work on. The Trichologists were all trained at the Nature Gentle Touch Hair Institute.

From the Trichologists journal, a little bit of an insight into the patients and some of their challenges could be grasped;

Mojisola Bakare (Trichologist)

Diagnosis: Her participants are in their mid-30s. Her first candidate was diagnosed with dandruff, receding hair line, smaller diameter of hair shaft, discoloration and split-ends, while the her other candidate has her hair breaking at the parietal region, receding hairline, hair discoloration and split-ends.

Treatment: For her first candidate she recommended a treatment for her dandruff using the Natures Gentle Touch Tea-Tree anti dandruff range (Shampoo, Instant Conditioner, Leave-In Treatment and Scalp Protector), and a scalp manipulation to help her receding hair line. She informed that the split-ends will be trimmed to avoid it causing more damage to the hair. For a home care treatment routine, she recommended that the candidate massage her scalp before she retires to bed with the Natures Gentle Touch Castor Oil Conditioning Cream every night and wrap her hair in a satin wrap set. The candidate is to stay off braids and extensions during the treatment period. She should drink lots of water and protein-rich diet while doing her best to exercise quite often.

For her second candidate, she recommended a conditioning treatment with the Natures Gentle Touch 3-step solution for hair breakage to help repair her breakage as well as a scalp treatment similar to her first candidate to help restore her hair line. The scalp treatment will be administered with a high frequency machine to open up the pores and stimulate cell growth. On the candidate’s part, she was advised to stay off braids and extensions during the period, massage her scalp every night before bed mostly along the hairline, exercise often and maintain a healthy diet that includes vegetables and lots of water.

Kenneth (Trichologist)

One of Kenneth’s candidates had to pull out of the challenge due to a personal assignment that had to take her out of the country, and no replacement was found in town so he lucky to have only one candidate to work on.

Diagnosis: Kenneth’s candidate is in her mid-20s. Her consultation showed that she has a dry hair & scalp condition, had damaged cuticles, suffering from hair breakage and receding hairline, and she’s not taking care of her new growth.

Treatment: His treatment plan is to restore her hair’s moisture by adding a daily oil moisturiser to her breakage treatment, massage her scalp with the Natures Gentle Touch Castor Oil conditioning cream and take care of her new growth with a retouch using the Natures Gentle Touch herbalblend No-lye relaxer kit, during a particular period in the treatment.

Barbara Apo (Trichologist)

The last 2 participants for the hair care challenge were assigned to the lead instructor at the Natures Gentle Touch Hair Institute, Ms. Barbara Apo.

Diagnosis: During consultation with her first candidate, she noticed that she was suffering from traction alopecia (receding hairline), excessive dryness in the nape area and had a weak/brittle hair which is prone to breakage. Her second candidate had similar problems with her first, only that she had minor flaking which is a sign of dandruff.

Treatment: For treatment, she planned to stimulate her patients scalp cells to help improve blood flow and also recommended a constant hair massage for them outside treatment to help improve hair growth around the hair line. For the candidate with symptoms of dandruff, she intends to disinfect the scalp and hair using the Natures Gentle Touch Tea Tree Anti-dandruff formula. For the weak and brittle, she intends to place the candidates on a weekly deep conditioning treatment using the Natures Gentle Touch Deep Conditioning Cholesterol Treatment. This formula she will compliment with the other members of the Natures Gentle Touch 3-step solution for hair breakage. So before she deep conditions, she will clean the hair and scalp with the Natures Gentle Touch Moisture Care Conditioning Shampoo and restore the hair with the Natures Gentle Touch Intensive Leave-In Treatment.
