Runaway with Cirque du Soleil
Join dozens of artists from Cirque du Soleil's Las Vegas shows and more than 1,000 community members in March for the annual Run Away with Cirque du Soleil at the Springs Preserve, A ONE DROP World Water Day Event. In addition to the 5k run or 1-mile fun walk, participants will enjoy live entertainment by Cirque du Soleil musicians, massage therapy, a warm-up with Cirque performers, and activities for children. Saturday, March 24, 7:30 a.m. - noon., 8:30 a.m. race start. Registration fee for 5K Run is $35 in advance ($40 after March 1), 1-Mile Fun Walk $25 in advance ($30 after March 1.) Spring Plant Sale
Local "green thumbs" will have their choice of more than 5,000 native and water-efficient plant varieties for purchase at the Springs Preserve's annual Spring Plant Sale. Plant sizes range from 2 inches up to 5 gallons and garden staff experts will be on hand to answer customers' questions about how to care for their new plants. Saturday, March 31, from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Springs Preserve members will enjoy a special preview sale from 7-8 a.m. Free admission to sale, regular admission prices apply for museums, galleries.

Bet on the Farm – Farmers Market at the Springs Preserve
Join us for Mario Batali & Joe Bastianich’s truly sustainable farmers market, Bet on the Farm, every Thursday at the Springs Preserve. In season offerings, regionally and locally grown include fruits, vegetables, herbs, fresh eggs, honey, nuts, dates, locally roasted coffee, and many more delectable treats. Every Thursday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. inside the Desert Living Center. Access to the market is free. Purchases are cash only.

Bike Rentals on the Exploration Loop Trail
Let the good times roll as you rent bikes and wheel on down our 2.2 mile Exploration Loop Trail! Keep your eyes open for birds, wildlife and breathtaking views as you follow in the path of adventurous explorers and ancient peoples drawn to the artesian waters of the spring. Weekends and holidays, 10 a.m. – dusk.
Bike rental is $6 members/ $8 nonmembers per hour, includes helmet. Child carrier rentals are available. Personal bikes are not permitted on the Trails.

EXHIBITS, SHOWS AND DEMONSTRATIONS

SPACE: A Journey to Our Future
Ignite your desire for discovery and dream of the possibilities that lie ahead... in SPACE! Find yourself launched into the future of space exploration in this out-of-this-world, interactive experience, only at the Springs Preserve. Touch a lunar sample, step onto the "Moon Scale," take a spin in the centrifuge and create your own mission to Mars. This far-out exhibit is produced by Evergreen Exhibitions in collaboration with NASA and is made possible by General Motors Corp., Lockheed Martin and local sponsor Arcata Associates, Inc. Exhibit on display through May 13, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily in the Origen Museum. Free for members or included with GA.

SPACE: A Journey to Our Future – Feature Film
SPACE: A Journey to Our Future (6 min.) shares how the space travels of today and yesterday help us to look far into the future of our exploration of the universe. Continuous showings daily, starting at 10 a.m. Free for members or included with General Admission (GA).

Trash to Treasure – The Sculptures of Dave Thompson
Artist Dave Thompson transforms old metal into magic. His recycled-object sculptures fill the Gardens with wonder and whimsy. Take a stroll and see what hidden treasures await! Exhibit on display beginning March 3, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily. Access to this exhibit is free.

Nevada Watercolor Society Spring Show
The Springs Preserve is proud to present an exquisite array of watercolor paintings representing the best of the 2012 Nevada Watercolor Society. See the works of local artists exploring still lifes, abstracts, portraits and landscapes utilizing the colors of the desert. On display Friday, March 16 – May 6,10 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily in the Origen Museum. Free for members or included with GA.

Wings over the Springs – Live Bird of Prey Show
Meet and greet hawks, eagles, falcons, owls, ravens and more, and witness free-flight demonstrations at the Springs Preserve’s Wings over the Springs live bird of prey show. This exciting demonstration will expose you to the beauty of these amazing creatures and enhance your understanding of the role these majestic birds of prey play in sustaining our environment. Visitors will see a variety of birds that include: Eurasian Eagle Owl, Gyr Falcon, Saker Falcon, Barbary Saker Falcon, Lanner Barbary, African Hawk Eagle, Barbary, Red Necked Falcon, African Crow Raven. Shows take place Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., through March as well as on select holidays, check www.springspreserve.org for more information. Free for members or included with GA.

Wings over the Springs Backstage Pass - A Bird Encounter
Love our raptor show? Then make sure you get a Backstage Pass to spend quality time up close and personal with these unique and rarely seen raptors. Offered Saturdays and Sundays at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. throughout March. **Backstage Pass:  $10 members and non-members with paid general admission. A paying adult must accompany children under 5. All guests 2-up must be ticketed for the Backstage Pass and children’s classes.

Animal Feeding Demonstrations
Join our zoologists for feeding sessions with the animals in our native and desert-adapted live animal exhibits. Saturdays and Sundays at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. throughout March. Free for members or included with GA.

Bug Box
Decorate a bug box to hold your insects. Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily throughout March. Non-members: GA + $3.00. Members: $2.00.

Key Chain
Kids, decorate your own cool insect key chain. Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily throughout March. Non-members: GA + $3.00. Members: $2.00.

Personalized Plant Poke
Give plants pizzazz! Make your own personalized garden plant labels. Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily throughout March. Non-members: GA + $3.00. Members: $2.00.

Tomatoes Workshop
Add “salsa” to life as you learn there’s more than one way to grow tomatoes. Get your questions answered: Our 2-hour workshop shows you how to grow tomatoes that thrive in the desert! Saturdays and Sundays at 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. throughout March. Non-members: $15.00. Members: $10.00.

Gardens Plant Tour
Our experts highlight new and unusual Mojave native and Desert Southwest plants for your landscape. Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 a.m. throughout March. Non-members: GA + $5.00. Members: $3.00.

Ladybug Release and Craft
Release ladybugs—nature’s most charming pest control—and paint ladybug rocks to decorate your garden. Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. throughout March. Non-members: GA + $5.00. Members: $3.00.

Tomatoes
Grow tomatoes that thrive! This condensed version of our morning workshop offers top tomato tips from the pros. Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. throughout March. Non-members: GA + $5.00. Members: $3.00.

Water is Life
Be wowed by water! Kids, join us for hands-on activities and experiments and discover the wonders of water. Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. throughout March. Non-members: GA + $5.00. Members: $3.00.

Drip Irrigation
This class equips you with the skills to design and install a drip-irrigation system.  Saturday, March 3 and Saturday March 17, 9 a.m. – noon. These classes are taught by expert staff from the Southern Nevada Water Authority Conservation Division as well as the Las Vegas Valley Water District Water Waste Team, as part of a partnership with the Springs Preserve. All classes below are free and held at the Springs Preserve. Pre-registration is required. Call the SNWA Conservation Division at 862-3760 to register.
