By: Kim Meyers The first half of the prize package was a classic collectible 1963 Split Window Coupe. The second was a 2011 Hero Edition ZR1; a one-of-a-kind vehicle created specifically for the giveaway. Burrell first received the news that he won both Corvettes via phone on January 11, 2012. "I was both shocked and excited to hear the great news," Burrell said. “It was hard to believe at first but then it started to sink in that this was really happening.” At the award ceremony, Burrell was still in shock, “When I saw the two cars I was totally blown away,” Burrell said. “All my friends thought this was too good to be true but it turned out to be the best investment I have ever made.” As excited as Burrell was about being named the winner of the 2011 Corvette Dream Giveaway, he didn't forget about the charity his donation went to support, “I knew when I entered the giveaway even if I didn’t win I would still be helping out a great cause,” Burrell said. “I like donating to various charities and I will continue to donate in the future.” Kids Wish Network is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children having experienced life-altering situations. It is through the many programs offered at Kids Wish Network that they are able to assist the children and their families. Net proceeds from the 2011 Corvette Dream Giveaway helped fund the HERO program in over 180 pediatric facilities nationwide.
