California Babies Lead the Latest Trend: Eyes-Open Childbirth Hypnosis
Parents looking for more comfortable birth without the risks of epidurals or anesthesia are turning to Hypnobabies®. This Southern California program is gaining acceptance all over - can natural birth really be peaceful?
The local ABC news in Salt Lake City recently featured Hypnobabies on their morning and then primetime news programs:
Los Angeles Hypnotherapist Stephanie Voss teaches Hypnobabies in her Eagle Rock office. “This is not just for the home-birth crowd,” she explains. “My students are mostly educated parents with insurance who are planning hospital births – and they want to avoid medical procedures like induction and caesarian unless absolutely necessary. When their babies are born without drugs, which happens often, they are alert and ready to bond.”
Moms enjoy the practice, which requires them to relax half an hour a day for at least six weeks. Dads or other birth partners have very specific cues they can use to help moms relax.
Cyndi and her husband George, of Los Angeles, took the six-week course and had their little girl in 2011. They were delighted to welcome her peacefully. It was a far cry from those familiar scenes in the movies where moms are screaming at their partners. Says Cyndi,
