The OFJCC and AAGBU host Breathe, a Women's Wellness Symposium, on Sunday, March 18

International and local experts explore ways for women to nurture their body, mind and spirit at an all-day event at the Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto.

Feb. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- The Oshman Family JCC (OFJCC), in partnership with American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (AABGU), is hosting its second annual Breathe, a one-day symposium on women’s wellness featuring an array of experts on topics including caregiving, fitness, relationships, weight loss, beauty and happiness. The symposium takes place on Sunday, March 18 from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM at the OFJCC in Palo Alto.

“Breathe is about taking the time to celebrate the unique concerns and delights that women have in a welcoming, empowering community of other women,” said Stephanie Oshman, Committee Chair. “Women of all ages will come together for a meaningful day designed just for them. It’s a very powerful event.”

Keynote speaker Professor Miri Amit, Dean of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev’s Eilat campus, will talk about how to motivate girls and women to express their intelligence and individual gifts rather than worry about being accepted in her talk “Reversing the Ophelia Syndrome: Educating Women to be Independent Thinkers.” Professor Amit served for over ten years as the National Superintendent of Mathematics at the Israel Ministry of Education, overseeing school curricula, national testing and mathematics education policy for the entire State of Israel.

“In addition to our wonderful keynote speaker Professor Amit, our Breathe Symposium highlights the wealth of expertise right here in the Bay Area,” said Riki Dayan, Committee Co-Chair. “Local doctors, attorneys, Rabbis, authors and other experts – all women -- will lead dynamic workshops and share their expertise.”

Workshop topics include “Jewish Yoga: A Physical and Spiritual Workshop,” “Understanding Fertility,” “A Win-Win Approach to Successful Relationships,” “Caregiver Empowerment Workshop,” “Project Happiness: Skills for a Meaningful Life” and more.
The day’s events include continental breakfast, workshops, a keynote speech, catered lunch and an optional morning Zumba ® class. Cost is $55 for OFJCC Members and $65 for Non-Members.

Breathe is co-sponsored by Crescent Capital, Moldaw Family Residences, Allergan, University Chiropractic and Stanford Hospital Health Library, Allergan and Women’s Health at Stanford.
