Feb. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- The 2012 African American Festival celebrated Black History Month Saturday February 25th at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum. The Black History Celebration, hosted by Verizon, motivated 1,667 in a celebration of music, dancing, and words of inspiration. Groups of all ages enjoyed the museum's exhibits while learning about black history and participating in various educational and entertaining activities being offered throughout the day. The 2012 African American Festival's team was on-hand to share this year’s theme: A celebration of Life, Music and Culture, as well as engage in civic action and volunteerism.

The Black History Celebration was a joyous occasion filled with life, excitement, education, and culture.  The 2012 African American Festival’s team was more than proud to be a part of it. "Participating in this event with Verizon, the Reginald Lewis Museum, and the community was a mini-launch to our 2012 Festival,” said Shelonda Stokes, president of greiBO entertainment and producer of the African American Festival.  It was important to the Festival’s team to be there and celebrate African American culture with people that love and support the Festival.

So many supports stopped by the booth just to share how excited they are about the Festival and looking forward to this year’s festivities.  Some adding how they’re looking forward to celebrating their family tradition of attending the Festival each year. The festival’s team is truly excited about the number of people that are eager to support this year’s Festival.  Over 100 people signed up to volunteer in the various areas of the Festival such as health & wellness, education programing, hospitality, and many more. The 2012 African American Festival will take place July 7th and 8th at M&T Bank Stadium.  For more information about the 2012 African American Festival please visit the website at www.africanamericanfestival.net.
