Canada Goes Couture! New Canadian Fashion Label Pavoni Hits the Canadian Runway

Canada goes couture! new canadian fashion label pavoni proves that some still understand what it takes to compete with the big kids.

Feb. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Despite the fact that they are relatively newcomers on the scene, being only 5 seasons into inception, the dynamic duo behind designer label PAVONI certainly understand the global fashion market outside of their Montreal doorstep. The line, co-founded by Gianni Falcone & Mike Derderian in 2010, has been carefully sculpted into a luxury brand that is the manifestation of classic old world glamour and elegance fused with a contemporary edge. The details in the garments have been compared with some of the biggest names in the industry yet succeed in maintaining true originality and an undeniably unique vision. Designers Derderian and Falcone both hail from strong fashion backgrounds having worked for  high profile couturiers as well as owning/operating an exclusive boutique in Montreal.

With little over a year into production, PAVONI has already garnered international acclaim and become a celebrity favorite. PAVONI gowns can be seen been on red carpets and at high profile events like the Grammy’s, Country Music Awards, and exclusive Hollywood events like Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve party and ACM presents: Girls’ Night Out. Not to mention movie premiers, television appearances and countless Best Dressed Lists from pop culture industry leaders US Weekly, Life & Style, People magazine, InTouch and the Hollywood Reporter among others.  Fergie, Katie Perry, Miranda Lambert, Shakira, Lindsay Lohan and Carrie Underwood are just a few of the A- list celebs who have been bit by the PAVONI bug, and there are many more to come.

The collection is at present being sold internationally all across Asia and the Middle East, as well as the UK and the US in over 30 luxury retailers. Harvey Nichols and Neiman Marcus have already recognized PAVONI as the next big luxury line by including their current collection in their prestigious couture salon. "Just a few years ago we were a couple of guys from Montreal with nothing more than big dreams, so to now see our dresses hanging alongside  McQueen, Valentino, YSl, Lanvin, and Versace is an intensely surreal experience!” shares Falcone. “Things are moving so fast that we barely have time to sit back and truly realize what is happening."

For the past year PAVONI has been touring, throwing launch parties and trunk shows all over the world from Dubai to Moscow and everywhere in between, but as the duo put it; it is now time for PAVONI to come home! "We are very proud to be a Canadian company and are excited to show our fellow Canadians who we are and what we are made of,” exclaims Falcone. “No matter the praise we have gotten globally, Canada's voice is the one we care most about; we want to make you proud!"

The collections, which have been shown for the last 5 seasons exclusively at Paris Couture Fashion Week, fit right in as a luxury label consisting of extravagantly adorned evening gowns, breathtaking bridal gowns and decadent cocktail dresses. This season, in addition to showing in Paris, PAVONI will be making their Canadian debut. The Fall/Winter 2012-13 collection will be strutting down the gleaming 100 ft. runway at World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto. In its 26th season, Toronto Fashion Week runs from March 12th-17th and takes place in David Pecaut Square in Toronto, Canada’s leading fashion capitol. WMCFW is North America’s second largest fashion week next to Mercedes Benz fashion Week in New York City.

Closing the opening night shows on March 12th at 9pm, the premier promises to bring all the glamour of European runways to Canada. Following the runway show, PAVONI will be celebrating the launch of the brand in Canada with an exclusive invite only after party event at the Thompson Hotel rooftop lounge.
